Mediation is a steadily growing part of my practice. Helping people utilize alternative conflict resolution and peacemaking strategies is consistent with Social Work values and highly rewarding. The focus of my mediation work is:
couples creating marital separation / opting out agreements which may be converted to a divorce;
couples already in divorce litigation, referred to me by their attorneys, to mediate issues about which they have become stuck; often the parenting plan.
parents, unmarried, needing to create relevant agreements such as a parenting plan, child support, division of financial assets, liabilities, property, etc.
family members seeking resolution to disputes.
I see adults and adolescents with concerns including, but not limited to:
anxiety and anxiety related issues
depression
sexuality
gender identity
anger
grief
relationship concerns
behavioral concerns
alcohol and substance abuse co-occurring with one or more of the above
I see married and unmarried couples with concerns including but not limited to:
infidelity
unresolved conflict
consideration of separation or divorce
consideration of living together or marriage

adjustment to difficult transitions

facilitate all settlement meetings, which include the couple and their attorneys, with the goal of the couple negotiating a mutually acceptable resolution without having courts decide issues
provide expertise in assisting the couple agreeing on a parenting plan
intervene, a neutral party with expertise in conflict resolution and emotional process, in conflicts between the couple or the attorneys for the purpose of moving the negotiation forward in productive
